Hooray for respectable audio this week!!!!

We got our hands on some sweet sweet mics and they’ve made all the difference in our audio situation. We just need to remember to actually speak into the mic as well as refrain from hitting the table…whoops !

It’s Susana’s birthday episode this week (check us out on Instagram @criminallyclueless for the cute set-up) and our birthday girl did not come to play games. She takes us on a telenovela-esq journey so convoluted Jane the Virgin couldn’t write it. Our heroine is the kick-ass Marisela Escobedo. Marisela’s daughter Rubi was dead and despite Marisela putting everything on the line to prepare an ironclad case, she couldn’t get her daughter’s murderer to pay. It’s a seriously twisted story of murder, corruption and a mother refusing to give up on justice for her daughter.

Yes, you are right, Susana does have a case type but it’s her birthday and she can make us cry if she wants to.

Next up, and hoping to make good on a birthday promise, Shaunelle has 3 (yes, three) clueless criminal cases, each one more clueless than the last. This is a bit of a Frankenstein’s monster case. Why? you ask, well It’s comprised of two separate recordings. After weeks of trying to share a case (which shall remain nameless), a series of comical and honestly unfortunate events resulted in us, not only, scrapping the case but also blessing the apartment to ward off bad juju. In our first case, Shaunelle will delve into the disturbed world of notorious serial killer Jerry Brudos and his extreme fetish. Two words: breast paperweights. If that didn’t paint a picture we don’t know what will.

Then Susana takes us back to the 90’s with the infamous Amy Fisher case i.e the underaged, spurned ex-lover with killer aim case. How this story unfolded is still fascinating to this day…..almost as fascinating as where they all ended up.

Vanessa had a life long dream of serving her country in the military and was happy to take up a post at Fort Hood only to have her dreams destroyed at the hands of a selfish and sadistic fellow soldier. Her mother, Gloria, isn’t taking her death lying down and we’re the newest members of her fan club.

Then we discuss invisibility …..no we aren’t hoping for a revival of the fantastic 4, we’re in fact delving into the serious issue of the invisibility of minority women to people in positions of authority. Specifically, we’re discussing the case of Sarah Butler and why her death could’ve been prevented if a certain predator didn’t see black women as expendable and law enforcement didn’t double down on that notion by their complete inaction.

We stumbled into a theme because in both cases families are seeking justice for the lives of their daughters snuffed out at the hands of ain’t s*#t men.

On this, the eve of our official launch, I just want to prepare you for what’s about to happen….

Firstly pronunciation is subjective over here. It’s hard to unlearn things like a native tongue so be ready for questionable vowels and lots of Tringlish (Trinidadian English). If you’re interested I will set up a podcast dictionary anytime I accidentally slip into what’s most familiar. Additionally, neither of us can pronounce our podcast name well so that’s a treat you can expect regularly.

For this teaser I just wanted to let you know why I’m the most qualified person to chat your ear off about various scandals and Susana gives a shout out to her adorable motivators i.e. her daughters Emma and Karen. We’re ready to try something new, scary and exciting. We hope you’re in for the ride. buckle up cuz we don’t know where we’re going or how to get there.

You ! You need it and we need it too.

Susana and I (Shaunelle, a.ka. your humble blogger) are in for a change of pace. Tired of the rinse repeat humdrum of everyday life we figured out, after kind of surviving the pandemic (***it’s still going on so we can’t call it a win yet), that life is NOT about just existing. After very little consideration, we very quickly realized that we enjoy crime (as macabre as it sounds) and we are always riled up about the latest injustice. The reality is that we would be talking anyway, we always have tonnes to say and we figured if we’re gonna watch it and talk about it, why not bring it to the people?!!!!

We also have a pretty compelling reason for wanting to make it big and her name is Boni. Boni is a Pomeranian, who by a series of comical, and quite frankly fortunate for her, events resulted in her being adopted by me. Boni has a host of medical issues that I won’t bore you with out gate but needless to say she puts the expense in expensive and we need to hustle hard to pay her way to wellness. What she lacks in frugality she makes up for by being the most adorable dog on the planet and therefore I had no choice but to save her.
